Migration
Task one
1. Migration is when you move from one country to another or one city to another city.
2.
a)  Shawn migrated from Invercargill to Christchurch
b) Susie and her family migrated from Christchurch to Wellington
3.
a) To get a job
b) To go live with family
c) to go try new  things in a different place
Task two

  1. Suzie and her family migrated from Wellington to Auckland
  2. Ashley emigrated from England in 2001
  3. Daniel immigrated to Australia to find work
  4. There was a great emigration of Europeans to New Zealand during the 20th century
  5. Tawhai immigrated to America for love
  6. Many young New Zealanders immigrate to Australia for higher wages
Key questions
1. Why do people immigrate?
To start a better life in a new country and get a job
2. Why do people emigrate?
To go move into a new country or city to start a new life and get a job
3.What are the consequences of migration?
Getting sent back to where you came from. Getting treated differently. Even harder to find jobs.
4. What factors might cause a counter stream of migration?
War, Weather, natural disasters, not enough supplies
5. What are examples of migration in history?
when the Europeans immigrated over to New Zealand
7. What obstacles might they encounter?
Boarders, natural disasters, racism
What does migration and a lolly shop have in common?
People flock to it, both have a mixture of things, both move around a lot,
push and pull factors

  1. Fantastic start to the term Shawn. You have completed lots of work, and I would have loved to see you own migration story explained using the push pull model. Try to complete any incomplete work at home for the next week. Well done.
